Get Involved with Give 804

We kicked off our first annual Give 804 campaign last week and the energy has been incredible. Together, we’ve already raised more than $20,000 towards creating a culture of joyful readers and putting books directly into the hands of our students.

Thanks to our invested partners, engaged community, and joyful storytelling, we’ve had a steady drumbeat of momentum – from our refreshed newsletter and active social media presence to features in Richmond Free Press, Richmond Family Magazine, Richmond Times Dispatch, The Richmonder Newsletter, RVA Hub, and CBS 6, invested community partners, influencers and more. Special thanks to Gelati Celesti for raising $1,800 last week through proceeds from their Rainbow cookie sales – a sweet summer treat with an even sweeter impact!

We have made great progress in our efforts to get Richmond reading, but we need your help to reach our goal of 10,000 books and $50,000 raised by September 30th.

Check out the map for places in Richmond that are participating in the book drop. Please visit these locations and bring new or gently used books for grades K-12.

  • Shelf Life Books

  • Minglewood Bake Shop

  • Urban Hang Suite

  • The Urban Farmhouse Market & Cafe - Shockoe Slip

  • Triple Crossing Beer - Fulton

  • I Love You So Much Books

  • Cafe Zata

  • Hardywood Park Craft Brewery - Richmond

Join us at Triple Crossing’s End of Summer Block Party this Saturday. We’ll be collecting books, sharing ways to give and get involved, and offering books from the Lit Limo for students to enjoy and take home!

Keep an eye out for our August newsletter in a couple of weeks where we’ll be announcing September events designed to carry Give 804 across the finish line in a big way!

Finally, you can help keep the momentum going by:

  • Reposting our social media content

  • Inviting friends to get involved

  • Signing up to be a reading buddy for the upcoming school year.

If you have any questions or want to get involved, please reach out to Molly at molly@rps.fund.

Thank you for your continued support!
